This Monster Wants to Eat Me Reveals Global Visual and New Teaser

The upcoming This Monster Wants to Eat Me (Watatabe) anime revealed a new global visual, along with a reveal trailer and global showcase details. The series is slated to premiere in October 2025.

The new global visual depicts Shiori, one of the main characters from the story, in the half-yokai (monster) form.

Additionally, the anime is coming to two primary anime-related conventions in the U.S.One of them is Anime Expo, which is held in Los Angeles in July — the anime “Watatabe” will be featured at the PONY CANYON booth.
It has also been announced that the U.S. premiere of episode 1 and a talk session by special guests are confirmed for Otakon, which will be held in Washington D.C in August. Sai Naekawa (The Original Creator/ Mangaka), Takumi Kamemaru (Manga Editor), and Ena Hamabe (Anime Producer) will appear as guests and talk about the behind the scenes of manga/anime creation.

Naoyuki Kuzuya is the chief director of the series, while Yusuke Suzuki is the director. STUDIO LINGS is in charge of the animation. Mitsutaka Hirota is writing the series composition and screenplays, Nozomi Ikuyama is designing the characters, and Keiji Inai is composing the music. The voice cast includes:

Sai Naekawa wrote and illustrated the manga series on which the series was based. Yen Press published the first volume in English in June 2024.

The synopsis of the series is as follows:
“I’ve come to eat you,” so softly utters the mermaid Shiori as she emerges from the sea and takes high school girl Hinako by the hand. Hinako lives alone in a town by the sea and possesses an unusually delicious body that is irresistible to nearby monsters. To ensure that she matures to the best condition, Shiori seeks to protect Hinako—all so that someday, she can devour every piece of her. A longing thought comes to Hinako’s mind; “Maybe this monster can make my wish come true.”
