The anime film adaptation of Keigo Higashino’s best-selling The Keeper of the Camphor Tree novel revealed a teaser visual and trailer. The movie is set to premiere in Japan on January 30, 2026. It is the first of Higashino’s works to receive an animated film. Studio A-1 Pictures is in charge of the animation, along with its recently-formed Psyde Kick Studio.
The story follows Reito Naoi, a young man who becomes guardian to a legendary camphor tree said to grant wishes to those who pray beneath it. It will be directed by Tomohiko Ito (Sword Art Online, ERASED, HELLO WORLD), with script by Taku Kishimoto (Haikyu!!). The main voice cast includes:
- Fumiya Takahashi as Reito Naoi
- Yuki Amami as Chifune Yanagisawa
