ONE PIECE revealed new artwork for its card game, including illustrations of the Five Elders (Gorosei) by the creator of JUJUTSU KAISEN, Akutami Gege. In a special comment released alongside the art, Akutami Gege explained the personal background behind the collaboration:
“Toward the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen serialization, my health took a turn for the worse, and I was in a situation where I couldn’t make any progress. At that time, Oda-sensei kindly introduced me to a hospital. After a full recovery and wrapping up the serialization, I wanted to express my thanks, but I couldn’t think of a single suitable gift. After much back-and-forth, I decided that repaying the favor through work would be the best course of action.”
“I’m glad I got to draw Saint Nusjuro. When I received the color specifications for the five characters, I was quite surprised, but working to bring together colors that wouldn’t normally come from me was a fresh and exciting experience.”
The Five Elders include:
- Saint Jaygarcia Saturn
- Saint Marcus Mars
- Saint Topman Warcury
- Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro
- Saint Shepherd Ju Peter
