The anime adaptation, based on Kohei Horikoshi’s manga, began airing in 2016 and has since released seven seasons. The manga series itself ran from July 2014 to August 2024 in Weekly Shonen Jump, concluding after a decade-long serialization. The seventh season of the anime ended on October 12, 2024.

Besides the TV series, the My Hero Academia franchise also has four feature films. The latest, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, arrived on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on February 19, 2025, which also included an original OVA episode with story written by Horikoshi himself. The movie began streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll from April 20.

As the series finale gets closer, fans can check out the ongoing My Hero Academia: Vigilantes spin-off anime, which is set set five years before the main series.
