Excitement for the series’ return is high, with the theatrical compilation of DAN DA DAN Season 2’s first three episodes: DAN DA DAN: Evil Eye, passing $5 million at the North American box office this week, according to distributor GKIDS on X (formerly Twitter). This surpasses recent high-profile advance screenings of compilation films in North America, such as Solo Leveling: ReAwakening ($3.4 million), and recent compilations generally, like Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon ($504k), and Attack on Titan the Movie: The Last Attack ($2.9 million). Evil Eye has grossed $5.6 million worldwide.
Ahead of DAN DA DAN Season 2, you can check out two new trailers released last week, featuring the ending song “Doukashiteru” by WurtS. Anime Corner had the opportunity to speak to the English dub trio of Abby Trott (Momo), AJ Beckles (Okarun), and Aleks Le (Jiji) this month, which came fresh off our interview with Season 2 co-director Abel Gongora, who directed and storyboarded Season 1’s viral opening music video.
As for what fans can expect from the upcoming season, Le teased Season 2’s sound design, Beckles pointed towards Okarun’s self-discovery, and Trott told fans to pay attention to Momo’s cleverness and resourcefulness. You can also find out about fun behind-the-scenes stories from recording.
Science SARU animates DAN DA DAN, which adapts Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga of the same name, serialized on Jump+. It’s described, “When Momo and Okarun’s beliefs clash, they’re thrown into a world of ghosts, aliens, and awakened powers.”
