Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza’s Return continues its historic run at the Japanese box office, now standing as the third highest-grossing Japanese film of all time after 31 days. As of Day 31, the movie has drawn 18,272,941 admissions, reaching a total of 25.78 billion yen (approximately 174 million USD) in revenue.

This milestone comes shortly after its previous achievement of surpassing ONE PIECE FILM RED to become the 6th highest-grossing anime film, with 22.07 billion yen in 25 days. In less than a week, Infinity Castle has gone further up the charts, eyeing the overall record of 40.75 billion yen from the same franchise’s previous film, Mugen Train.

A new key visual recently gave a new look at the Shinobu vs Doma fight, and the hype for the movie has only gone up since it started hitting theaters worldwide on August 14. It is set to debut in North America on September 12, with early screenings available for Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate Fan subscribers.

Prior to its record-smashing Japanese premiere, tickets for the earliest screenings were sold out within minutes. Currently, every anime episode and movie is streaming on YouTube for free (available for 1 week starting on August 16). The movie was previously confirmed for a 155-minute runtime (2h35m), and opened in the highest number of Japanese theaters in the franchise’s history.
