JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami has shared an update on the anime’s production progress, confirming that work on Episode 1’s sound is now complete. Studio David Production has returned to handle the animation production, with the main staff recently revealed during Anime Expo 2025. You can read Iwanami’s full message below:
“Sound work on Episode 1 is finished. It’s awesome! The sound concept is ‘Dance with Steel Ball Run.’ It’s a danceable soundtrack! Stay tuned! I want an Emmy Award for Best Sound. What should I do? lol”

Steel Ball Run is the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki’s legendary JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga. Set in late 19th-century America, the story follows former prodigy jockey Johnny Joestar and mysterious outlaw Gyro Zeppeli as they compete in a transcontinental horse race for a massive cash prize. Beneath the surface, they face dangerous conspiracies that threaten to take over the competition.
The manga by Hirohiro Araki began in 1987, while the Steel Ball Run part ran from 2004 to 2011. An event revealing new information about the anime will be livestreamed on September 23, with more details to be announced soon. The full staff for the latest anime installment includes:
