HoYoverse has revealed several new teaser videos and a trailer for Skirk, introducing the character ahead of Genshin Impact’s Version 5.7 update and featuring some 2D animation from A-1 Pictures. The new update launches on June 18. Previously, an anime-style video was revealed to tease Skirk and her major role in the game’s lore.
The first video is titled Skirk: An End, And a Beginning, and features Childe reminiscing on his master. It’s described:
The pursuit of power is a task that cannot be completed in a single day. It is a path laden with many “steps.” And these could be an ending wreathed in destruction, or the beginning of a new life.
The second teaser is a character trailer titled Skirk: Lament of a Ruined World. It shows more of Skirk’s backstory, featuring new anime-style footage and vocals from Loger. A-1 Pictures confirmed that the studio helped with the 2D animation. The video is described:
The death of a planet is often regarded as the end of its civilization. The flickers of starlight left behind are merely a sigh of divine pity.
Prior to this, a gameplay trailer was also revealed for the character, showing Skirk in-game ahead of Genshin Impact’s upcoming update. Skirk was added to the game in 2023, with Mamiko Noto as her voice actress. Known for being Childe’s mentor, Skirk formerly trained under Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners.
Her combat mechanics as a playable character allow her to switch between two fighting styles, one focused on area damage via Elemental Burst and one centered on sustained Cryo damage through enhanced Normal Attacks. The new gameplay video is described:
Usually, nobody would dare ask Skirk about her daily meditation, and what goes through her mind during these sessions. Perhaps, just like the Abyss, the flow of time in her heart differs from that of the outside world, granting her a solitary, silent perpetuity.
